Engine Run On
Well the engine runs however when i turn the ignition switch off the engine runs on for a second or so then dies.. I suppose it could be ignition not
quite right.. I need to check to see...
Anyone had a similar situation?
It is also possible that it is normal...
thanks

had this with a pinto that didnt have the spark timing set up properly after a cam change, just set the timing and it was sorted.

could be feed back from either the alternator driving the charge lamp or cooling fan doing the same, this could be resolved by inserting a couple of
diodes into the wires.

If everything is right & you still get it too much you can get a valve which opens when you cut the ignition letting excess air into the inlet
manifold downsteam of the throttle so it weakens the mixture a lot & stops it. Really it's a cure to a problem that should'nt be there
if all is well but I've seen them factory fitted (but that was British Leyland which mabye says it all!)

First thing to find out is if the sparks stop when you switch off. If they do check for timing/ mixture/ high idle etc. What engine ?

Idle speed too high & weak mixture at idle, if that doesn't fix it fit an ant-dieseling valve

Back in the days of distributors, this always happened on my RWD Escorts if the ignition was too far advanced at tickover.
Does the car spin over cleanly when you turn it over? Or does it slow down mid revolution?
Might be an idea to tweek the map between 500-1000rpm.
