steering column
I'm after some advice on fixing my sierra steering column to my Viento chassis. Basically, the fixing on the column that I have has two fairly
large diameter holes whereas the mounting point on the chassis takes M8 bolts.
I guess that I need some sort of bush with an M8 hole, but I got the column off e-bay some time ago and did not notice that I needed something
else.
Is this something that I will need to make or is there somewhere that I can buy a standard part.
There is something wrong with my Locost account so I cannot post pictures at the moment. I will try to register as a new user and post a pic.

They are bolted in the sierra like this with a couple of washers. I turned up some brass bushes for mine.

If the fixing on the column mounting is the pressed steel one why don't you make up a U shaped plate to fit under it with a wing at either side.
Providing it's narrow enough to fit inside the pressing edges that face downwards it won't move and it's then located by those same
edges.
Drill your M8 holes through the plate to match the chassis mounting - QED?

A long time ago now, but seem to recall putting some m8 washers ( or someting else?) in the larger mounting holes on the cloumn. and a big washer on
top.
doint think there is a standard part.

They look like they are exactly what I need. I've just checked and the diameter of the holes is 19mm. Do you know where I could get some from,
or did you make them yourself?
Paul - I've just tried your washer idea amd the M8s that I have are too small an OD but perhaps some type A washers will be the right size. A
trip to Screwfix tomorrow morning might be in order unless I can find some top hats
