She's Here!! Pics and some History
After the rain delayed trailering her to my garage last night it held off for tonight and now she's in her new home!!
Still a little dusty from nearly a year off the road, i'll be able to start cleaning and working on her this weekend. As this is my first
'kit car' and first motorbike engine im gonna take my time and have set a date for the half term week in February next year to have her
fully road ready (got a week off work that week!!)
As for the history on her, ive been able to find out that,
She used to be blue with silver stripes and was owned by either a friend of or an employee of MK Indy itself.
Originally it had a 998 motorbike engine of some sort, but that was replaced with the Hayabusa engine that is still in her, this engine had in the
region of 9K spent on it getting it to run at around 260bhp. Aparently the work was done by a specialist in Manchester?
An unfortunate incident whereby the airbox set on fire after a 'backfire' resulted in an insurance claim, the owner tried to buy it back
but the insurance company wouldnt sell it direct, preferring to sell via an auction. The owner at the time wanted to buy it back but missed/didnt find
out about the auction.
It was bought by a car dealer in Darlington who somehow managed to reverse a large 4x4 over the front passenger side wheel area, smashing the arms,
nose cone etc but no damage to the chassis or frame.
This person sold it to the mechanic i bought it from, who has had it off the road after repairing the front end and decided to get a full respray and
renew a few other parts, including lights, tidy up wiring, reverse selector, dash trim, boot box and a few other bits.
If it helps try to trace it back (im always interested in finding out more history - as long as its good!!) the reg number is - Q63 HBA, it does
also have a chassis number stamped on 2 seperate plates

your certianly right about it being dusty
Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

with a bot of TLC you will be laughing.
Worth taking it steady till you are sure the engine is in tip top condition, or give it a good service before going out in it - a busa lump
isn't cheap to replace.
cast a careful eye over all the nuts and bolts etc. check they are all tight, particularly suspension etc.
The guy looks to have lost interest to let it get that dusty, and you wouldn't want to find out he never got round to tightening the calliper
bolt whilst out for the first drive

Dusty is only half of it! gonna blow the thick off with my airline for the time being.
Yeah he admits to loosing interest, just not having the time to get it finished off. He's a mechanic with a very good reputation, ive known of
him for a few years and he's good friends with some of my mates too. He's been very thorough in his 'handover' going over nigh
on everything with the car that needs doing and what he has done himself. I'm confident theres no 'cowboy' work been done, but i
will be going over every nut/bolt/connection to double check for my own peace of mind!

Best get some bum-padding then, looks a little uncomfortable at the mo!
Good luck, hope you work on it quicker than I do on mine, something else always needs doping and gets in the way
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Came with a full set of separate Sparco seat cushions/padding. Quite clean and stored separately!!
It's N/A, I'm not getting tooooo hung up on numbers, that's what I've been told it's running in the region of, whatever
it is it'll still be a quick little thing!!

Oh aye it'll be a rocket ship. But I can't see 260bhp being right. That's a gain of around 70/80hp without a turbo!
You're gonna have fun with that one though!!
