Sidescreens.

Just finished my sidescreens. What a difference at high speed! Before anything over 60 on the motorway need a helmet if drive was for more than 20 mins, real pain. With screens in place 70-80 no probs, still not exactly luxury but a lot better.

Makes shoulder space a bit tight but you soon get used to it so those trips to shows 100 miles + away should be a lot better. Might even get to Newlands more!

Now just a hood and aircon to fit and I'll have a turned to Indy into a MX5.

Will put some one next week, haven't got my camera at moment. Cut and shut on a Lolocost, pain in the ass. You would have thought someone somewhere would advertise screen surrounds made to measure, would be easy with the right kit. Cannot understand why MK have not sourced one yet, must have sold 100s of kit and even if only 10% want a screen thats must still be worth sorting one out.

Zetec - what screen did you use? I am planning on building with an aeroscreen but useful to know if I decide to add one later. Also have you made your own sidescreens or are they adapted from something else?

I used a frame from a Lolocost screen which I err modded to fit. Got some glass cut by local RAC Autoglass. They will cut as a one off and I am sure they can supply acid etch kite mark if need be, Snoopy might be worth calling them.

I made my own side screens after seeing some excellent ones fitted to a number of Dax Rush. Ali bottom section with polycarbonate top section. No loss of view when driving, polycarb almost unbreakable. Drove to Brands today and 80mph on the motorway no probs, some rain on the way back and stayed dry.

OK they make getting in and out a bit more tricky but then I will only use them on long runs so not an issue. Will post some pics when I can. Cost about £50 the pair (plastic £35, ali £5 and paint plus bolts £10).

The kite mark has to be inside the glass if you are fitting before SVA. If you fit after I don't know if anyone ever checks on them for MOT but I wouldn't think they'd notice.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
