new builder
Ive been thinking about building a kit since first visiting the Stoneleigh show in 1995 but have never had the time, money, space, inclination
etc......
Im now in a position to 'scratch the itch' and have recently bought a part built MK Indy. The kit is probably 50% complete and has been
built to a decent standard using a lot of new parts and seems like a good starting point.
Should be collecting at the weekend and I am really looking forward to having a good look at what Ive bought and sifting through the boxes of bits
that the seller has included in the sale.
Anyway Ive spent the past week looking through various threads on here, found loads of good information and wanted to say hi as Im sure Ill be asking
loads more questions over the next few months.

Hello and welcome to the greatest kit car Forum on the planet, noobie! An MK kit is a great starting place (but you would have been better building
from scratch than trying to pick up from where someone else left off). (In my humble opinion of course).
Try and get some photos of the build up to the current point, also you will probably need to produce reciepts for the main parts - are you getting the
V5 of the donor vehicle? These items are quite important when it comes to IVA and registration. You need to prove to the IVA that you built it
yourself - hence the photos.
Other than that, you will find that putting your location in your profile can be useful - people can come round and take the p*ss, -sorry, help you
etc.
Above all, enjoy the rest of the build, and don't rush - there are guys on here who have been building their contraptions for over 10 years!
Good luck, Steve.
Luego Locost C20XE.
Build start: October 6th 2008.
IVA passed Jan 28th 2011.
First drive Feb 10th 2011.
First show: Stoneleigh 1st/2nd May 2011.
'Used up' first engine may 3rd 2011!
Back on the road with 2nd engine may 24th
First PASA mad drive 26/7/11
Sold to Mike in Methyr Tydvil 19/03/14

Welcome
I did the same as you and bought a part built MK for my first project.
I would also get a letter from the previous owner roughly stating what stage it was when you bought it and that he is an amature builder.
Also what Steve said about receipts and photos, the more you can send to VOSA the better.

Were you never told as a child "If you can't say anything useful/nice say nothing at all"?
To the OP welcome to what is usually a very friendly and helpful site.

Sorry dont understand where you are coming from???
If it wasnt for 'new' builders capable or uncapable surely the kit car industry and the manufacturers of lego parts and kits, would die on
its ar*e?

Not at the moment, it's stripped for mods at the moment but it has been on the road for the last 2 years.

I think he's onto something. I went with the piecemeal approach to my grand disappointment. A complete MX5 donor is the way to go, and cheaper
by a mile.

??????????????
This one by chance?
Description
If so., it looks a good buy to me and you should have that up and runing in no time
No, unfortunatly there's not much of specific kit meets in the East Midlands any more, though Ashby Folville gets a good unorganised turnout

Yep, that looks like the one
Picked the car up last weekend and now have the car and a big pile of parts in the garage ready to put together! Not had much of a chance to have a
good look at it yet (garden project on the go) but I think my first job is to replace all the brake pipes as they are a bit of a mess.
Any links to good MK build diaries? Ive had a search on here any everything seems to lead to Hellfires page but unfourtunately his site is no longer
active!
Cheers Nick
