Winter rebuild started
Don't you just love these days between Xmas and newyears?
Yesterday saw the body removed from the Indy (bar the side panels) for painting. Today was spent repairing some star cracks in the gelcoat by grinding
them out completely with Mr. Angry Grider and laying up some 25 g/sqm glass tissue on the outside and some standard mat on the inside. Tomorrow will
be filler and sanding time!
The idea is to paint it a light grey, sometimes refered to as battleship greay and to stick on a blue stripe front to back. As said, the side panels
are staying black.
Once the panels are prepped, I'll have them professionally painted as I want it to look good and not DIY. Then it is on to the chassis
modifications. Based on an older thread I think I've sussed out a way to stiffen the front end significantly and still be able to fit the
engine. The rear suspension cradle will probably also get some additional metal welded in as that is really flimsy on the classic Indy.
Watch this space!
