MK Indy project, early
I have just bought an early MK Indy project. Chassis is live axle, late 90's, but never built. There are other parts with it, but any tips?
Any insumountable issues with these?
Which bodywork fits?
Is it based on Champions plans?
I will need some parts, so let me know what you have spare please.

May be the same Chassis as mine then, its not called an Indy due to the live axle
I fitted mine with a pinto engine but had to raise the side of the chassis by adding more box section too the top rails
Im now currently fitting a duratec engine.
You may find the self centering to be a pain, We had to chop my wishbones up to sort this out, but once done it handled like a dream.
My live axle is actualy from a capri too, which gives an extras 2inch either side.
Mk Indy bodywork will fit just fine.
Give me a shout if you want to know anything else

You had to modify MK components as well??

Yeah, the wishbones worked fine except that they just would not self centre, I believe this is common on the mk indy too. but dont hold me to that.

Redeye, so if it isnt an Indy what is it called?
Problems with self centreing, did you actually do a geometry check on it? Too much caster?
I was thinking of putting rose joints on to adjust caster and camber.
Engine will be a crossflow to start. Just because I have 1 lurking complete with a 5 speed!
Any idea what shock absorber length should be? I have been offered some but not sure what they should be.
Was there any sort f build manual for MK, or is just Haynes?

I believe the very early ones are simply a Locost chassis.

The design of the wishbones gave pretty much no caster, so we moved the centre of the wishbones towards the rear. this worked a treat, It was a friend
of mine that actually modified them and at the time he didnt have any round tube so just used box section, this worked well but looked aweful so Ive
recently had them remade by a locally.
My car was one of the earliest chassis built by Mk long before they started making the Indy and yes its pretty much based on the book. Ive been told
it was built in Martin Keenens own garage before he actually started the company, but rest assured all Mk chassis are usually very well put
together.
Theres photos of my car in my photo archive if you want to see if its the same style chassis
Its handy that you have the crossflow since this is the engine the chassis was designed for, so you shouldnt have any real problems.
theres no build manual but its not really needed, just use the search function on this site to find all the answers you'll ever need or ask if
you cant find them.
Where are you based btw?
Good luck with the build

It's just an MK Locost and I've got one. Most are live axle but there are some de-dion.
The Indy came along later.

Probably because the file size is too big, reduce the size to around 300kb and try again..

Open picture with 'microsoft office picture manager' (if you have it on your pc!!), at the top click 'edit picture', then down
the side you will see 'compress picture', click on this and you will have different compression ratios, choose one about 300kb and
'save'..... Simple...
