Indy r wish bones on old indy
Hi all dose any one know if the rose joint type indy r wish bones can be fitted to the original indy chassie ?
If any one has some pics of the new type wish bones could they post them up so I can have a look at them please

Got ours from MK
Greatly improve self centring
We have about 7-8 degrees castor

Brilliant just what I was after!
Also did you stay with the special Mk off centre front upright mounts or go back to the normal centralised ones ?

Off centre ones
Good idea to fix them also
easy to do just drill & tap + bolt
loctited in.
I like belt & braces.

I have mine marked to I can place them back in the same place every time. But not tapped as yet
On the new type is the camber adjustment still the same as the original ( the arm is threaded so minimum adjustment is 1 full turn of the top ball
joint) or is it a rotating sleeve for finer adjustment ?

I may be wrong but that doesn't look like an Indy R wishbone.

May not be, got them from MK
as replacements for ours
Best thing would be to ask Danny at MK to be sure.
Having thought about it, the Indy R does not need 'U' shaped wishbones as they don't have the shock absorber going through them
The 'Y' shape is easier & cheaper to manufacture, MK probably made ours for the old Indy.

Quick thought once your happy with the setup you should replace all those washers with spacers machined to the correct size. I would not like the
bolts coming lose or moving..

Where on earth do you get that reasoning ?
Why should washers make the bolt come loose
any more than spacers , the rosejoints & stainless washers are clamped tightly
within the bracket by the same 12mm bolt with a shake proof
washer & a nyloc nut,
Don't forget the rose joint only pivot up & down, not sideways
May not be as pretty as spacers , but make adjustments & assembly
a lot easier, & cheaper.
100 stainless 12mm washers cost me £4
& you need 20 per brkt so 80 in all.

a) I can't recall any of my referance books using that many shims.
b) The bolt is also probably loaded in bending with all those washers, under braking loads there is a good chance somthing will move bending the bolt
(probably elasticly but not for ever see root failure (f)).
c) A bolt works by being in tension; it is a clamping device thats how they work. With that many plates squashed togther I suspect the tension is
probably not that well defined there is a lot of scope for the stack of washers to move (compress slightly over time)..
d) Also the tension is (in principle) the main force in locking the fastner, the nyloc is just backup it will not stop bending.
e) In any case it just does not look correct getting a few spacers made up will not cost that much..
f) When a bolt gives up due to "root" failure (threads acting as stress rasier) in the thread from bending little or no warning is
given.
Having said all that it is an M12 8.8 bolt you might get away with it.
Upto you but with the above and also "it does not look right" and generally that's a good warning to find out if it's o.k.
Also I am not a qualified engineer so don't take my word for it better ask an expert

Ok thanks for all the info guys.
I think I may just modify my spare set of wish bones as I'd like the finer adjustment on the top ball joint.
