Sub 1549cc engine options ?
Might seem a silly idea but there is "method to my madness" (developing an idea)
What sub 1549cc Mazda engines have the same bellhousing pattern as the 1597cc B6ZE(RS) engine fitted to the MX5 ?
Cheers.

Any VED saving you may make will almost certainly be overshadowed by insurance increases for having a "modified car", even with a smaller
engine.

FWIW the idea isn't to reduce the engine capacity in a project but rather to increase from 1300cc !
There are very few modern RWD gearboxes, and with MX5 being one of those, it could be suitable as long as engine under 1549cc so the vehicle REMAINS
in the lower VED band
So whilst you MAY be correct for some people (very doubtful though for myself with my insurer) and some vehicles it's not applicable in this
case
So does anyone know the answer to the question I asked ?
Thanks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_B_engine
There are several smaller engines in that engine family, worth a try.
