Realistic Budget
What would be a realistic budget on top of the 950 + VAT and a Donor Vehicle.

I've told the wife it'll cost about 2 grand....!
So far, got a Sierra donor £52.50 from Ebay!
Anyone got a list of parts NOT included on the Indy starter kit so i can get a better picture on how much i can spend on luxuries such as nice seats,
wheels etc?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark H, was it a XR4X4 you got as just missed one of those for that price!
I am building a ZX9R engine powered car. I actually haven't purchassed the chassis yet but have the engine and ancills, LS diff, brakes, bike clocks
and rad. It has cost £800 so far. I am hoping to have it on the road for £4500-5000. The Mrs thinks its costing £2K

Stuff not included
Shocks, Seats, Wheels and tyres, Some of fibre glass panels if you need them, Petrol tank, Dash, Radiator, varios bits needed for SVA complaince
(including nut covers and edging material for sharp edges)
Other stuff depends on what you're doing ie using donor dash so you do not need a new one etc.
My indy had dash from Honda Fireblade in, all new sports brakes, new calipers, new wheels etc tahts why it cost £6000
And after doing 750 miles in the first two months, I can only say it is worht every penny
Cheers

Thanks Jim for the list. One more question (sorry to hijack the thread Vince!)...
Does the MK chassis need any welding to finish it off? I haven't got a reply from the email l sent MK yet on this matter. I am not a time served
engineer - in fact I'm probably not time served in much useful, so info like this is important before going for a chassis.
Cheers.

No, it does not need any more welding. MK will modify the prop shaft for a fee and the shortening of the steering rack and lenghtening the column is
part of the kit. As long as you get the correct 7" wide sierra diff then you do not need to weld. Everything else can be rivnutted ar bolted/pop
riveted to chasis etc

This Cracks me up...
I think its great how everyone has to con the Mrs into believing theyre only gonna spend a few quid, because is so hard to justify having a car thats
only gonna get used between full moons.
Im the same, and mine cant stand the 7 looking car anyway. i built a Quantum Xtreme in 2000, and now i want to build an MK BEC.
Im getting married next year so imagine how difficult a time im having trying to spend the money for that.

I have had no problem when I mentioned a cost of 70000 SEK (about 4400 GBP). She just said "Thats not much and then you have a really cool car."

MY missus is desparate for me to get one - at any cost. I'm a miserable git most of the time and she'd love to see me smile more - ain't that
nice.
Won't be building - just repairing

so: if £4-6K is a good budgetary figure, what would the cost be if you converted your effort at say £10 an hour?
