Got a feeling that ET 30 as opposed to ET 38 will bring the wheels out further....

Yep pete, you're right.

205/40 17 has roughly the same rolling diameter as 205/50 15, which is often used on Indys. I would have said that, if anything, go up to ET42, but watch the wheels on the inside.

205/40/17s have caused me some problems. they're et38, and are not too bad for clearance so you may be better with something like an et40 odd. had to have et38 as that's the biggest offset you can get pro race 1s in

however, the cycle wings are far too small for 17's and leave about a 1/2" gap at the front (to cover the rim vertically)
on one side and about 2" on t'other, (based on bonding the very rear edge to the rear bar of the wing stay, not so very strong). obviously with 15s, the diameter is 1"less so you get away with it..............well you would if both wing stays were identical, but they're not. one top bracket is misaligned so needed rewelding.

anyway, the long and short of it is the mk cycle wings won't fit, unless you can suggest to the sva man that you don't need the vertical section of the rim to be covered.
i have ordered dax cycle wings, but they wont arrive til a fortnight after christmas, 3 weeks late
southern suppliers are really starting to pi*s me off

incidentally, does anone know if the new mk cycle wings are any bigger, ie more wheel coverage? snoopy, any light to be shed? any chance of some bespoke bigger ones? i'd rather give money to mk than dax!
