MK Pedals & Heal/toe

Hi,

Can anyone heal and toe with the MK pedals because I cant?

What mods has anyone done to allow heal and toe braking? I thought about adding an extra plate lower down the pedal but dont know if this will get in the way.

Why?

Are you thinking of rallying in it? You don't need to wind the back end up for any of the corners round here.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

If you have big feet it's a nightmare, my size 12\13's don't lend themselves too well to heal\toeing!

Does no one heal/toe in their indys then? Someone must as there are a lot out there doing bits and bobs of track work.

I think heal/toeing will help prolong the gearbox's life a bit.

I met someone in lboro last year who had built an Indybird, don't suppose it was you? Do you know Martin Ward?

Ollie Jetson, from this forum, goes to loughborough i think. He is currently on placement at Nissan, which is how i know him.

Hes got a locost he uses for hill climbing. Had a Xflow in it last year, has just bought an R1 engine and trying to get it ready for the first tests in march.

Sorry to hi jack the thread, as for heel and toeing. I set up my pedals at the weekend and reckon i could, but its hard to tell without knowing how much travel the accelerator needs to give it a good blip.

Yep I've learnt to heel/toe my indy blade as you say it's to allow me to blip the throttle on down shifting while braking into corners. It seemed easier to learn this that grow third leg!
I set the pedals up so they're all aligned when not pressed, so when I press the brake (with my foot sort of on the right edge of the pedal) then lean my foot more to the right I can blip the throttle.
I have no idea if this is a good set up for heel/toe, as I'm fairly new to it, but it can be done. My MK pedals are fitted with metal pedal 'covers' that make the pedal surface a fair bit bigger, this means there's less room between pedals.
I have size 11 feet.
Hope that helps

PS Any BEC guys out there, it is well worth learning this art as it is easier on your gearbox. Well, that's what I've been told by more experienced BEC owners/bikers.
