cooling problems
2 lt pinto on twin webbers volvo header tank and mk radiator...
problem is I'm getting one hell of a pressure build up and it's driving me round the twist. I've got it piped up small overflow pipe
on radiator to header tank large pipe on water pump tp bottom of radiator smaller pipe to header tank ( I think it was used for heater). thermostat
hosing large pipe to top of radiator very small pipe blanked off water pipe on inlet manifold blanked off (again I think this was heater) with engine
running and no cap on header tank the tank just overflows till system is empty with cap on it tries to blow the pipe to header tank from pump off
any one any ideas is it worth losing the thermostat
many thanks

Water pump?
The head gasket can still be gone even if theres no fluid mixing.

I had similar problem last year with the engine blowing all the water out when driven fast. Changed water pump, ran without stat, had three row rad
made up and changed the head gasket. Had the head checked for porosity and it was fine and while it was at the engineers asked him to skim it to make
sure it was flat. It wasn't!. Never saw any bubbles in the rad or water in oil or vice versa. Clue was that the temp gauge didn't show it
overheating, it just blew the water out.
Ran fine for another 2000 miles and lost all the water on the motorway coming back from Newark a couple of weeks ago. Took a while to find in the half
light by the side of the road but the water pump bolts had loosened off till the water fell out. Tightened them up, refilled and all was well.
Locktite and spring washers now fitted.
