It went forward !!!

Well this afternoon the car went forward under it's own steam!!!

Very happy, clutch was much better than I had imagined.

Couple of issues, first is that the fan didn't cut in, tested the electrics by overiding the temp switch and it ran fine. I only just put the thermostat back in after having it out for a few months, if it is seized would this couse the problem? I am guessing it would but thought it was worth confirming it.

Second problem is more of a pain, Digidash went back to ETB as the oil pressure reading wasn't working correctly, they said they found a fault and fixed it but it's doing the same thing A call to ETB I think!

All in all it felt really odd driving a car you've actually built! At least in the five yards it moved nothing fell off

well done. it's a great feeling, I found the blade very different the clunk as it goes into gear is very disconcerting my first thought was what have i done wrong. The temperature sensor in the head is a pain as i found out mine snapped had to drill it out and retap it. have since been told by honda dealers its a common fault
enjoy the feeling

Are you using the original bike stat or a rad stat. They are wired quite differently. If a rad stat chances are it's wired incorrectly. If it's a rad stat which one are you using?

Thermostat is the standard blade one in engine, fan thermo switch is a standard switch that fits into the MK rad at the top.

It has two wires that attach to the switch and basiacally when the temp reaches a certain degrees c it should make the connection between the two wires and switch the fan on, I know the wires are fne as I have connected across them and the fan runs correctly. Only thing would be if the connections on the switch had to be connected a particular way round but I doubt it matters although I could be wrong.

Only when you push it Ned Why have a reverse gearbox when you can just push it, much simpler!! Hmmm...maybe not in traffic though!!

Thanks mate I think I will give that a go although obviously if it lights at 116 deg c then it will never light as water boils at 100 deg! At least I wil know if it's the switch as it should switch between 90-100deg or even just before.

just checked the one in the blade rad the alarm goes off on my multi meter when my digi thermometer reaches bang on 100
you're putting me off a digi dash rapidly it does seem to give true readings. if you check the rad one and it operates the fan at 100 then the dash has got to be at fault again .hope you get it sorted

Sorted it this afternoon, checked the switch and it has 92-97deg stamped on it so knew it shoud open at about 97deg.

Took the switch out and there was no water even near it, just air. Put the switch back in loosely and then fired the engine and let it heat up. When the temp got to about 85-90 the air was forced out the loose switch and when water started coming out I tightened it up.

When the reading got to 97deg the fan cut in perfecty and went down to 90deg before turning off, so it's working fine now, basicay the probem was air in the system.

May be worth looking at getting a switch that turns on about 92ish but at east it's working fine now.

Thanks for all your help guys (once again!)

Rich.
