Indy vs Book chassis
I'm assuming that there are no build instructions with the MK chassis so how do you go about assembling it?
Can you follow the instructions for the book chassis or are there any differences (apart from the choice of engine?)

Instructions
If you building their indy you should get a build manual which is helpfu,l most of the kit could be built by the pics on the web site though..

Ah, so you do get a build manual. I was under the impression that the Indy was just a book locost chassis but designed to take a sierra donor instead
of an escort.
How simialr is it in comparison to the book then?
Bearing in mind I want a simple, cheap buid, am I better off getting the MK Locost package and trying to get hold of an Escort?

If you were to build an Indy you would at some point have to strip a donor Sierra for the parts. That job alone will provide you with more information
about putting an Indy together than the build manual ever will. In addition to that is this source of information, Locostbuilders web site. Through
this site you will always find someone way ahead of you with an Indy build that has been there, done that and is willing to share his experiences.
Take Bob the Builder for example. he has been building his Indy for 27 years so knows everything there is to building one of these fine vehicles.
My build is coming on slowly but surely and I havn't relied on the build manual very much. I have never done anything more technical than general
servicing on a car but cant forsee any job that is going to cause me too much hassle. If I do come unstuck or am not sure about something I just ask
this group. I haven't been let down yet.
I'd say go for it and don't worry about how you are going to build it. All you need is the motivation and this site will provide you with answers to
any questions you might have.

I second what Paul says. Taking the dead Sierra apart is the worst bit, but you do learn about all the bits you will be fitting. I think the best way
to go is to order your kit and while you are waiting for the chassis clean and refurb all the bits, then you have a good start once the chassis
arrives. The MK build guide I saw was very basic, but when you pick the kit up ask all your questions and take a camera. If you get stuck just ask for
help, most people will even email you off a pic of the same bit on their car if there's nothing in the photo section.

Mk Indy
I spent lots of time totaling up costs of various kits from various manufacturers and then went to see the top 3, I have to say that Mk Engineering
turned out the best of the bunch, The car itself it slightly longer and slightly wider than book, correct me if I'm wrong, which makes for a more
comfortable ride / fit, over 6 footers fit easily. The company is always developing their cars and are always willing to help. Go for it.. also I had
a lot of enjoyment from stripping the donor car, see pics..

I found the MK manual to be very basic and have gleemed a fair bit of info from the 'build a sportscar for £250' book and this board. There is a
website where you can buy a cd full of images on how to build a locost which may help. I'll see if i can find the url.
aha.. its: www.locostcars.co.uk and heres whats on the cd:
WHAT'S ON THE CD?
High resolution, detailed PHOTOS of every stage in a Locost build
Detailed PARTS DIAGRAMS with measurements and handy hints for getting that professional finish look
WIRING DIAGRAMS not available anywhere else
A WORLDWIDE BUILDERS DIRECTORY, listing builders car details and contact details
A PARTS DIRECTORY, with adverts from some of the best Locost parts/insurance suppliers
The LOCOST GALLERY showing some of the best Locosts around, is your car on?
VIDEO FOOTAGE of a Locost
SVA INFORMATION, including an example test
and it costs £13
anyone else have this cd?
