Collected my kit
Collected my kit last Monday so I've now got some work to do!
The only problem was that MK forgot to powder coat it and as I didn't want to hire a van again to take it to the powder coaters I decided to
paint it.
What a pain of a job! - at least it now has a coat of primer on so isn't going rusty.
No criticism intended as MK were very nice about it, but would recommend a phone call to go over your order in detail to anyone picking up a kit.

My dad said to me before I bought an MK
"Kit car companies wont have changed sine I built my gentry 20 years ago they are extremely unorganised dont communicate within the business etc
etc"
I thought yeah yeah
so phoned MK after waiting 5 weeks for my kit I needed longer due to moving house
They had lost my order!
how the feck can a kit car company loose an order! they dont get that many a week...
so then I collected from donnington and they had forgot all my interior stuff etc etc
I now knew to phone three times before and even then when I got to MK the other week for my tank they hummed and rrred trying to find one!
My dad is laughing his head of at all this after he said it would happen!
I do think Mk somehow get away with there bad unorganisation and trying to rush orders to take on more work is a bad mixture.
The kit is well priced and smart when finished..
but it makes me wonder after making the kit for how long now??
they can weld like geniuses
but the alloy floor pan is the worst cut metal (considering its simple shape) Ive ever seen
Oh well

i think it has to be said MK are going through something of a transitional period at the moment.
i just hope they come back out of it the right way up
built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

The above posts do not fill me with confidance. I ordered my MK kit four weeks ago. I was told it would be around four weeks before it could be picked
up. So I emailed last week to check on a ready date - no reply. I have just emailed again, as I know they had a show last week and were probably
preparing for that. I hope the 'transitional' phase isn't going to effect the product.
I have noticed on the MK engineering site that they are developing a new Lotus 7 style kit. IS MK Eng an offshoot of MK Sportscars?

Hi mate dont quote me on this but MK engineering used to build the car and there all very close relatives ie brothers
I dont think you have anything to worry about generally but when I was looking into buying I read nothing but praise for all of the 7 style
manafacturers which to me has turned out a bit different nothing major though... its just I think the MK is the best looking so have stuck with
it..
Im being fair with my points the chassis is very well done but then why cant they cut out a perfect floor pan after all these years its only an off
square sheet of metal for christ sake but when the cars turned over you cant tell so?..
My website wil be running by the weekend ill post it up and it will help you majorly through the build..so will other peoples.
a lot of the stuff will go together like butter and toast but some things need a bit of fiddling which is what kit cars are all about no kit car
manafacturer gives you a decent build manual anyway so stick with the people on here and youll do fine
ta chris
also PHONE THEM !dont email

Yep Phone, not e-mail. I wish they did'nt give an e-mail address, as they don't reply, but fine by phone. The quality/value for money of
the MK is good, we've been very happy with it and MK..

Im pleased i havent had any of these problems. What you are describing is basic incompetence to me. It doesnt take a genius to get a board so that all
orders can be posted up and tracked against the 4 week leadtime. This way customers can be contacted in advance instead of waiting to the day.
something as std as a kit can have a std project plan. New order - print off blank project plan, add some dates and tick off each stage as
completed.
I know - easier said than done. Im not saying i would be much better but then im not trying to run a company.
