handbrake cover

I recently bought a leather handbrake gaiter with a chrome handle from maccess £14.00 and look much better than the standard sierra job. Has any one fitted one of these before and what is the best way of tidying up the spare leather? Do you just tuck it into the hole around the handbrake or make a aluminium / carbon surround. Any pictures or ideas will be gratefully received

I used a chrome surround, a bit of glue on the gaiter to stick it onto the surround then screwed it into the tunnel top. Once set, I took it off, trimmed the surplus material, then refitted it.
