sierra clocks

Don't know if anyone can shed some light on this for me, but i am using the standard sierra clocks in my indy which has a pinto installed, everything appeared to work fine until i started the car for the first time two weeks ago, but only to notice that the rev counter didn't work and when you rev the engine the handbrake warning light goes dim. I have a 12 pin connector on the of the dash not 16 at the moment it connected as follows,
______vg______________ford
pin1 blue/white_______blue/white
pin2green___________black/yellow
pin3white/brown______brown/green
pin4green/white_______black/white
pin5white/black________green
pin6blue/green_________brown/white
pin7green/black_________brown/black
pin8green/red _________green/black
pin9black/yellow_______brown/yellow
pin10brown/green________blue
pin11blackx2__________brownx2
pin12red_____________grey/green

I have been through the haynes drawing which all show the 16 pin type.
The clocks came out of a 1988 2000 gl

That kind of fault smells like an earthing problem. Clean all of the connections up with emery paper and then dunk them in Vaseline before reassembling.
