Top Ball Joints - MK Indy

Hi All,

I seem to have an issue with the top ball joints.

One of them, seems to have a smaller thread than the other...!!

One seems to be 10mm thread, and I can get a 19mm socket on it inside the mushroom and tighten it up.

The other has larger thread (12mm, I think) but I cant get the 22mm socket on the nut to tighten it up, the walls of the mushroom are too close.

Other than that they look identical, tapers are the same, etc

Both the balljoints were supplied as part of the kit a while ago.

Anyone know what is the 'smaller' one off, so I can go out and get another ??

Also do they need to have locknuts where they screw into the wishbone for SVA ?

Regards,

John

Forget the lock nuts just for SVA - you need them full stop !

They shouldn't be different sizes either!!!

For the sake of £10.00 - I'd fling em away and go and get some new Transit ones - as the lads have discussed.

These will come supplied with new locknuts.

Sometimes with the mushroom adaptors - you need to put a bit of wood over the balljoint and twat it a few times - just to get it to seat and tighten up properly.

You should check them continually for the first few months as things do come loose!
