It's not much, but I'm happy with it!

This is a moment for my own posterity - it'll be on it's wheels for the first time tomorrow!

No brakes in as yet, but having the ability to roll it onto the drive will make life a lot easier than trying to tip toe around the thing to get stuff done (plus the garage is a complete mess because I get get anything swept up properly!)

It has actually got all of the steering attached and working though!

I'd have liked to have the brakes etc. in place, so it becomes a proper rolling chassis. Space is proving a problem at the moment though, so a couple of wooden chocks will be the order of the day!

How have you put the sterring rod extentions on your car? At the outside, so the TRE is on the end of it and it adjusts between the rod and extention?

The track rod ends are tightened onto the extensions.
The extensions are screwed on to the tie rods that come out of the rack. Then you rotate the tie rods to give you adjustment for the tracking.
You may need to slacken the clips on the rack gaitors to stop them winding up.
Steve.

Presumably the lock nuts tighten up against the extentions then?

Not so much - I can't afford an engine or lights yet, so it'll be a flintstone style car soon (and will probably remain that way until I get a pay rise or bonus!)

I'll get it, it just may not be from the same company

I should hopefully have this thing dropped onto it's wheels this afternoon with a little help from Mark.

I've got a few problems with the steering at the moment (steering column bush doesn't seem to fit too well - I'd be grateful if anyone with photo's of this fitted could post them).

I also need to find a decent powder coating place - I'm going to keep the old sierra wheels on the car for a few months (years?) in lieu of splashing my alloy wheel budget on some Wilwood calipers all round.

I know of a decent powder coating place in Malton if that's any good?

Actually, I've found two in/near York: -

Lewis Powder Coatings Ltd
Unit 8, Acaster Estates, Cowper Lane, Acaster Malbis, York, North Yorkshire YO23 2TX
Tel: 01904 704178

A & M Beevers & Sons
Manor Farm, Green Lane, East Cottingwith, York, North Yorkshire YO42 4TT
Tel: 01759 318998

Dunno if they're any good though?

It'll do for me - depends on how much it costs (that'll be the difference between poweder coating and hammerite!).

It might look crap, but I have a theory that Wilwood calipers are better than shiney new wheels.

Your wheels are nice too! I looked at them myself, but the design changes slightly when the wheel gets bigger, and using rear discs means I have to use at least 14" wheels.

I think the steering bush is wrong because I've put it in the other way around

I've priced up as £270 for a front kit (calipers, discs, pads and brackets) and £320 for the rea Powerlite Handbrake caliper.

Figuring on about £160 to get my sierra units properly reconditioned, I'd rather take the plunge and put up with crappy wheels for a while knowing I not got ugly pieces of pig iron behind them!

Soon for sale - 2 sets of sierra front calipers, 1 set of rears!

Yep, I would do that too Steve. You can pick up some good wheels when they come up and when you get your bonus....

Plus, if you podwer coat the wheels black they won't stand out as being steels!

The suggestion has been to do them in silver - apparently they look good when clean and shiney. Bit dubious myself about that though!

Notice you've got those plastic chassis stands. Be careful when getting it down, at least one person on here has had them collapse They don't like having any twist applied, easy to do when shoving it around to get a better grip.

They're already bending a little under the weight - I';m dropping it before I should because I don't want to here that crash in the nmiddle of the night when it all goes wrong!
