Rivnut Tool
Can anyone reccomend the best Rivnut tool to buy (VFM) and where to get one.
I bought one when I started my build, used it twice and snapped the threaded bit off the bu**er.

Where in UK are you?
There's a auto jumble at rufforth airfieldnear York first Saturday of every month that's usually good for that sort of thing.

In my experience the pliers used for setting rivnuts tend to be a bit crap. I've owned several sets and now use a home made tool which is a lot
more reliable and gets into smaller spaces.
Very simple to make the main parts being a piece of flat strip with an appropriate size hole in it, a bolt to fit the rivnut and a nut to fit the
bolt. Screw nut onto bolt, place bolt through flat strip and screw rivnut on to bolt so that the flat strip is nipped between the nut and the
rivnut.
To set the rivnut simply hold the flat strip and the bolt head stationary and draw the rivnut up with the nut.
100% reliable and you can set the rivnuts nice and tight.
Cheers Davie

i too made my own as a good rivnut tool is expensive, have a look at mine, may not be the best but it works, also gave me ideas on how to improve it,
so i recommend making one, much more fun than spending your hard earned cash.

David Jenkins has plans for a good one on his site:

Or a crude version can be found here:

I bough the Zygology 7486 Boxed Kit - had no problems at all with it.
Not cheap though.
