How Big?

Just trying to sort out a van to pick my kit up. What size van have people used in the past? What are the dimensions of the Indy chassis?

Cheers

Hi,

I just measured my Indy chassis as follows...

length 3020mm (9'11" )
width 1070mm (42 inches)
height 60cm (24 inches)

I had the good fortune to have free loan of a 7.5 ton lorry, I believe it will fit into a long wheel base Transit (but check) and I've seen many people strap theirs to the roof rack.

Good luck.

Ok I'm struggling to get a van at the moment, might be able to borrow one from work.

Any idea if it would be possible to get everything in an astra hatchback? ie, chassis on roofrack, back seats folded with everthing elses neatly piled in? has anyone done this before?

Guys at MK said someone had once picked up a whole basic kit on a Ford KA!

They tape most panels to the chassis, so there's not that much to fit inside the car.

Good luck,
Matt.

P.S. Pick my kit up on Tuesday - managed to borrow a LWB Hi-top van though (LDV I think).

Wow how did you get one at 19 yrs old?

My son 19 can't hire one anywhere, they all have a lower age limit of 25! We can't even get him on our company policy for our vans.

I cheated... sort of.

The company I work for runs company cars, and also leases some vehicles from a vauxhall dealer. I asked the fleet manager at our place if he could help me out with some van hire for the weekend. He's hired one for the weekend and put it on the companys insurance policy. All done at low prices because the company has a good relationship with vauxhall. Net result, I get a van from Fri aft to Mon morning, for 40quid + VAT.

I tried all over to hire one myself, but the local companys all require the driver to be 21. I'm 21 in January, but I can't see myself becoming any less reckless a driver in a few months....
