Locost Body Panels on an Indy - Bad Idea?

Not quite in the market for body panels yet but it would be handy to have them soon to ensure i put the rad etc in the right place.

Now my question is.... am I mad to consider buying locost body panels (nose, bonnet, scuttle, rear panel) rather than ones from MK?

I know that side panels wont fit and that the nose will be a bit too short, but my reasoning is that they are cheaper and that its easier for me to source them as MK is a bit of a treck for me.

Any thoughts would be apreciated....

Cheers

MNR told me in no uncertain terms that their nose (neither one) would not fit on an MK chassis. That is dubious to me, I think they just didn't want to ship to Canada.

I ordered some bodywork from a guy in Oregon, and some from CarbonMods (fantastic quality, nice guys, easy to deal with, and fast delivery).

That is encouraging, but for some of us, not possible, due to many reasons.

Make em of ali, apart from nose and scuttle... But I would buy nose, and scuttle from MK as they fit there chassis, you might find others don't (Mk is bigger than the locost).

(I'm a little biased as this is what I'm doing!)

unfortunately our chassis is wider taller and longer than a locost derived chassis, hence why i know it will not fit
ref shipping we send all over the world, canada does seem to be the most expensive to send to for some reason though

cheers

The indy is an inch taller than the book Chassis hence the reason a locost nose won't fit. why not make the the side panels out of ally sheet

Yes this is what my research and measuring has lead me to believe. I think the nosecone will probably fit with a bit of fettling. I was already planning to make the side panels out of ali (and probably should soon as the excuse of the ali modern art in the living room is wearing thin) for several reasons but mainly as the MK ones are £180 and they wont fit in the car so I would have to hire a van or sort a courier to get them back home.

Mine is actually 1" taller than an MK as well as being longer than a locost - the seat has to move up about a foot for me to reach the pedals (I'm Colin Chapman-standard-issue 5' 9". It is the same length as the MK though. I'll get into trouble if I say any more! I love the MNR nose, and was ready to pay shipping, but I've got another one on order from somewhere else.

MK Panels

My MK is often commented on because of its looks, seriously, so I suggest just go for the MK ones

I would like to apologise publicly to Marc at MNR for my earlier comments. He was easy to deal with, and I am just frustrated with the lack of available parts at reasonable prices here in Canada. Shipping to here from the UK is a problem.
