Zetec Blacktop installation - Advice please
I'm trying to get a zetec into my Indy. Engine is in and mounted, exhaust fits and alternator is fitted [on the inlet side above the oli filter
/ steering shaft].
All was going well until my bike carb manifold arrived.
As the maifold inlets come out at 90 degrees I don't have any room to get the ZX6R carbs on without moving the alternator, however the existing
CVH alternator won't physically fit anywhere else.
So I could either:
1. Get a smaller alternator which may allow enough clearance on the inlet side, or may be small enought to fit on the exhaust side.
or
2. Get the manifold modified / replaced so the carbs are angled up meaning I could leave the existing alternator where it is. The carbs would also
then be working at the angle they were designed to. [although it looks like this doesn't matter].
I reckon replacing the alternator would be easiest but the question is will I be able to get one substantially smaller than the CVH alternator to
allow enough room.
It would need to be around 40mm smaller in diameter to fit.
All comments / suggestions welcome.
Cheers

Sttock alternator is huge and over the top. Try a Lucas LRA101 and change the pulley for yours. It's a 45 amp job from a 1.1 mk3 Escort. Very
small and fits nicely using the same manifold you have.
Failing that, any number of Nippon Eurobox GLSIs got fitted with little Hitatchi alternators.
Failing that, change to the Escort/Fiesta brackets that put it low down on the nearside.
