bulkhead reinforcing

i've read in Indy build diaries that its necessary to weld an extra reinforcing plate on the balkhead in the drivers footwell. is this recommended by all? comes as a surprise, as seems strange that MK would not plate it themselves if it was necessary. any advice appreciated.

New Chassis

Scotlad,

Ours is a couple of months old and has the new reinforced footplate. It was highlighted some time ago that the old "thinner" type deformed under very heavy braking.

You can tell by the welding around a section which surrounds the pedal mounts.

Good luck!

reinforced footwell

I was down at MK the Saturday you were there.Remember you having to go out and buy a roof rack at short notice. Glad to hear you are back home now. Anyway I had good look at your chassis and it definetly had the reinforcement fitted.

Thanks all, thats a weight off my mind.

i've never had so much fun in my life 'playing at cars' than this! should've done it years ago, and having such a great bunch as yourselves on hand for advice is invaluable!

i'll be down at MK on 22nd of Nov to hopefully get the other bits and pieces i need for me kit that are too big to post so i may get a chance for more chinwagging if anyone else is about.

cheers all

Graham

Just checked and 22nd is a Saturday, so we'll be there. They'll be giving us a clock card before long
