Drive Shafts

Morning All,

I'm just fitting the drive shafts to my Indy. When the shafts are fitted into the diff. the ends of the CV joint covers protrude about half an inch beyond the face of the rear uprights.I can push the shafts in, against the pressure of the CV joint springs, so that the CV joint cover is level with the face of the upright. Is this as it should be?
All help appreciated.

David
