Our solution to the problem was to make a former out of hardwood to take the square section to round and then used it to bend a piece of aluminium,
which was then trimmed to shape.

just wondering but why are the two panels designed like that if they arent going to fit flush together?

"Interesting" design features are a common thread in all these cars. If you stop and think about all the reasons building one of these is
completely insane, you won't do it, you'll just end up spending all your money on drinking, trying to get your head around it...
I am sure the Lotus itself has a few odd ideas built into it, but I've never looked closely enough.
