Seems to be a lot of 7's etc for sale

Every day there seems to be somebody else offering a 7 or very similar car, either fully built or as an unfinished project.

A bit worrying, do we think, or just a perfectly natural moving on to other things? Maybe a reflection of the economic situation.

I wounder how many of them actually sell, and for what proportion of the original asking price.

John

I get the feeling many people are struggling to justify their expensive toys at the moment - especially part built's!!

Economy, fuel prices and weather have all gone to worms. Along with the uncertainty over IVA and the cost bump over SVA for a lot of the partbuilts.

If they are selling people aren't getting the best prices right now.

Last year I couldn't find the time to use my car with the work versus weather equation.

I put mine up for sale early this year (March) on the advice from Mark @ MAC#1 and not to leave it too late.

And if I'd kept would have I had much use out of it, don't think so !

My next build is on hold, purely down to how much work I've got on and I can't see any light for at least another 18 months.

I think a lot of people have got carried away with specifications and spent more than they really intended to.

That's why the high prices are often asked too, trying to claw some of if back - which never happens...

Unless you have a ratty old Sylva which cost bugger all in the first place

I've obviously missed a new threat looming on the horizon here, what is IVA please?

I wonder whether if 7's were more usable in bad weather, for instance a decent hardtop and gulwing doors, if that would make a difference.

The weather can get people thinking, the car can be an expensive garage ornament.

I used my car a fair bit in the 1st few months of the year but the summer has been poor, must admit i did think of moving onto something else but i'll have a go at a flintstone roof over the winter for next summer

SVA replacement that comes in Apr 09.

Mostly tweaks and updates to the rules unless you are building a BEC. Biggest change will be the massive price rise being proposed (it's going to be over £500 iirc).
