Hi guys,
I was in the working on the avon today and when i got my balljoints out to put on the upper front wishbones the thread diameter is incorrect??? I
havent got calipers handy (left at work...doh) but i'd say the transit ball joints i have are around 1-2mm too small!?
I got them from kit parts direct:

Can anyone advise where i have gone wrong, i was sure these would be correct.
thanks in advance
I thought for the Cortina uprights it was Transit drag links that were needed not the ball joints. Are they not the ones to go into sierra hubs with
inserts.
may be wrong I'm sure more advice will be along.

any ideas????
They certainly look right to me.
Are you sure the wishbones have the right thread M20x2.5 ?
David
I dunno, just off to walk the dog then i wil go and check.
M20 though? i always thought that the transit joints were M18 x 1.5?
I don't know the exact English words, but there seem two be two types:
1. Drag link end, which has thread M18x1,5
2. Tie rod end Ford Transit. Thread M20x1,5. Ford part nr. 6148436
I have the last ones, 2 pieces, with right hand thread. Perfect fit to cortina hubs.

Ah Maarten you beat me too it,
I went down to my local motorfactors today and discovered the above.
here is a pic of the offending item vs the proper job for reference:
both types of transit joint
Just confirm the correct item for the Avon is a Transit right hand track rod end not a drag link or ball joint.
thanks for your help guys!
