What have others done about fixing the lower edge of the rear side panels for the tunnel ?
Ths gap is not big enough to fit a hand riveter into....
I have thought about bending a flap inwards and riveting to the top tube but I think this will be very difficult to get right.
I don't really want to 'just glue it'
So anyone got any hints ?
not 100% sure where you mean? do you mean the lower edge by the inboard seat belt anchorage point?adjacent to where your left leg will be.where it meets the floor pan?
does this (very rough ) sketch help?
riveting problem
i think i made an angle and used it to bring the rivet line clear of the seat support bar.either make one long angle or a series of short angles.rivet
one through the tunnel panel and the other through the floor panel.also this saves drilling unnessacery holes in the lower chassis rail.

ps i will be coming over to ipswich if it ever stops raining long enough! got to show the car off to my dad(he lives near asda )
looking forward to seeing your car.
cheers
I managed to drill down there! I used an agle drill attachment and a cut down drill bit. It is possible!
Cheers
how bout velcro on a roll?
drilling isn't a problem, it's getting a rivetter into position.... the head of the rivet gun is just too big..
Mine are screwed on, but suppose Rivnut tool would be very similar. Must have got it in somehow!
i riveted mine down there with no problems.
measured the gap last night and it is 80mm at it's minimum. my rivet gun's head is 90mm (not including the rivet!). so i guess i am on the lookout for a smaller gun?
