Just thought i would say hi, i have recently purchased a Tiger Avon kit (went for the full kit from tiger including new 2.0 zetec engine, alpha throttle bodies and discs all round) I got to say i am obsessed with the build at the moment (spending all my free time on it) and am well on with it, at the rolling chassis stage with engine and box fitted I have a problem with the throttle it seems very stiff when you press the pedal, i followed the instrcutions in the kit when assembling the linkage, used all the fittings supplied, i need to cut the cables down at some point but have not done so yet, and they are in a big llop over the top of the engine with no sharp bends in, has anyone had this problem before and if so how did you cure it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I done a search but couldnt find anything relating to this issue.

Have you confirmed whether the stiffness is from the cables or the linkage itself?? Did you lubricate the cables at all?? The pedal itself could also be the problem I guess??

The cables seem free enough although i have not oiled them yet i will do once i shortened them and find the best route for them, i only got them trial fitted at the moment, it gets stiff when i connect it to the linkage, i think the problem is the linkage somewhere, i may have assembled them incorrectly. Its not the pedal that is free enough.

I have the Alpha kit in my XE engined Avon but its an old one and pedal is free. I did have a small problem when i first bought them which turned out to be the linkage. I took the bodies off and stripped the linkage, oiled/greased it well and reassembled and hey presto....

Doubt it will be anything else really. Do you have the floor mounted pedal kit?:cool

You need to remove one of the two return springs, if not already done.

Just done it on mine for the same reason.

I'm not sure you need to/should oil the cables. Might have some side effects.

Thanks Dave i will try removing one of the springs when i get home, away with work for a couple of days at the moment. I have been following your blogg througout my build i have mounted the cables different to yours, i put mine one on top of the other to get the 20mm between the holes, then mounted the block to the flat plate on top of the pedal and drilled holes through it, i dont think this would make much of a difference though.
