tractorboy - 30/7/04 at 06:43 AM

the avon section has been a bit quiet lately. you must all be finding it easy now?is it all just coming together nice and easy just like the book? what stage is everybody at?

Lightning - 31/7/04 at 08:44 PM

Not doing anything at the mo as awaiting b*****ds at DVLA to give me a number. Report was in on friday so I will knock at their door on monday. Put the number plate brackets on today in anticipation ....and boredom,
Havn't got any mopre excuses not to do the decorating, so I'm putting up coving tomorrow. Somehow that doesn't seem as much fun.
How's your car going?
Bet it's good in this weather.

Hi Scott

Gone Quiet? It's the lull before the storm.

Dave will be back from his hols soon.

I'm currently in the garage all bloody hours trying to get it finished for Thursday!

Viper - 1/8/04 at 09:18 AM

Graham, if it makes you feel any better there is a guy on the tiger group (from what i gather) hasn't picked up the body yet and has already booked his SVA...
Tim

Avoneer - 1/8/04 at 10:15 AM

God help him.
I've got my re-test on Friday - just on emissions and speedo (the greengauges one was faulty). Went to local garage yesterday and now my CO is in the sub 1's and Hydro do dars in the low 400's. Should pass easy!
Hopefully make it to DVLA Leeds office on Friday afternoon for my plates!
Pat.....
Loads of pics in SVA section - SVA next tuesday.

Northy - 1/8/04 at 11:06 AM

I've got a couple of pics to add of you at the test centre!

Oh my god! Hope he's good at glassing!
But by all acounts, the later bodywork is now better!

Avoneer - 1/8/04 at 11:41 AM

Graham - get back in your garage!
I'd like to see those stupid pics too...
Can you post em in my SVA post....
Cheers...

Viper - 1/8/04 at 01:24 PM

Now that your car is finished, isn't it about time you updated your website?

Northy - 1/8/04 at 07:23 PM

Bugger-it, I'm off for a pint!

Interior finished, seats in, seatbelts fitted, steering rack mounts braced , aeroscreen radiused (still to paint). Not a bad day really

Viper - 1/8/04 at 07:31 PM

I have spent all day glassin, noq i itch like i got the pox

Lightning - 1/8/04 at 08:12 PM

Well I just finished the coving....YAWN

Avoneer - 1/8/04 at 08:33 PM

Hi Viper,
Gave up the website when I tried to fit the bodywork!
Anyway, didn't think anyone read it anymore....
Not even looked at it since christmas...
Besides, don't want you knicking all the best ideas first!
Pat....

Viper - 1/8/04 at 08:36 PM

oh i see like that is it....ok...well yours is finished now so you won't be knicking any of my ideas.....

Northy - 1/8/04 at 08:48 PM

Calm down children!

Ding ding, round one......

Viper - 1/8/04 at 08:57 PM

poxy fiberglass, i have had a shower, a shave and a haircut and still there is an overpowering smell of resin

Avoneer - 1/8/04 at 09:01 PM

Just think of the positive benefits!
When I made my side trim panels, smell lasted for a week!
Pat...

Northy - 1/8/04 at 09:05 PM

Did it turn your lass on or something Pat? I could do with some making if your upto it!!!

Viper - 1/8/04 at 09:13 PM

There would be a market for them...

Avoneer - 1/8/04 at 09:58 PM

Making them is easy - it's the filler and sanding that's hard work - unless i make a nice mould from mine??????? (got me thinking).......
Viper - what have you been making?

Viper - 1/8/04 at 11:45 PM

making nothing, just cut the nearside arch off and re positioned it and cut the body in half, removed an inch and stuck it bac to gether again. Once i am happy with the way it looks i will then stick it to the chassis, when i have worked out how...
If you mke some of those covers i will buy a pair from you.
Tim.

Fishface - 2/8/04 at 01:02 PM

Dont give up on the website pat I among a few who religiously refer to your website. Infact I was checking it again at the weekend looking at some pics for further pointers. To take it one step further I nearly brought an avon when they first came out but didnt once id got the book as i didnt think i could do it. Then at the start of the year when i saw a magazine article with the orange kit and then looked on the web and found your site i thought that i might actually stand a chance of doing it with being able to refer to yours.
Although i have blatenly copied some of your ideas the site is really good for pointers in many ways such as using brakes international and trackstore etc, extra panelling etc etc. Anyway please update it soon as i will be starting the bodywork in the next couple of months and am presently thinking of either;
1) selling it.
2) shooting myself
3) making it into a feature barbeque
4) actually having a go at fitting the body

If you do decide to make the side panel protectors, i too would definately be interested.

By the way when i was at tiger last they were apparently making a pedal box cover for the avon using the orange avon as a mould. As they have sold the orange one, i hope they managed to get round to it.

Kind regards

Rob

andrew.carwithen - 2/8/04 at 04:36 PM

Rob,
There's a guy called mike listed on the yahoo tigerracing forum (tigerracing@yahoogroups.com) as michaelgrp2000 who makes the pedal box covers (indeed, I believe he made the one for Tiger's orange demonstrator!) for about £30, IIRC.
So, if you haven't already done so, and you are building a Tiger then sign up to the above group. It is a wealth of information - for there's inevitably somebody on there who will be able to answer any questions you have.
Cheers,
Andy.

tractorboy - 2/8/04 at 06:49 PM

Sounds like a right ball ache getting the bodywork to fit, whats Tigers response to why its so bad ? ? is your chassis made from scratch to the book or did you buy it from Tiger ? I get the impression the book chassis is a different size to that which Tiger supply.

Whats all this about a new body they do now ? is it much better ?

James

Northy - 5/8/04 at 07:01 PM

SVA failed today, but not all doom and gloom!

See SVA section.

Tigers response??and i quote "they are all like that" and "if you don'tlike it you can have your money back" and "what do you expect from a budget car"

mine is a tiger made chassis (unfortunatly)

don't know if there is a "new" body, haven't seen one so i will reserve judgement.

Well done and congratulations, Pat.
Taking her to Donny? (would make a refreshing change to see a few Avons amongst the Cats and Sixes!
You can have a few week's grace while you enjoy the car and then can we expect to see your website updated?!

Cheers,

Andy.
