OBP Pedal Box
wombat - 20/12/11 at 09:58 PM

Evening, bought an OBP Pedal Box and would like to know how you folks have made throttle and clutch cable pedal connections using this?
Pics would be helpful.
I have the sheets from OBP but would like to see how you have done it....
Type 9 = Capri cable I think from my searching on here..

Ta in advance

Sorry to hijack your thread, but i'll be watching this as i've just taken delivery of my obp pedal box too.

At the minute i'm planning on using a cortina clutch cable with a bolt through the polo shaped nipple end at the pedal, and then normal fitment at the gearbox end. But i'm really unsure how i'm going to go about sorting the throttle.

ATB, chris.

Just made a bit to fit mine for the Capri clutch cable, basically a flat plate with a 45 deg tube welded on. It bolts onto the holes for the hydraulic master, I'll get some pics up tomorrOw, not sure about throttle, thinking it will go vertically.
What size master cylinders did you get?

I picked up box last friday as I live nearby, unfortunately I was in a rush and it wasnt till Saturday when I looked at cylinders, discovered I had two 7's.
Sam at OBP apologised and swapping for .625 between xmas and new year.
Any pics would be great help..............visual learner etc :-)

I got two .7s, but when reading around on the help pages it states .625 should be used for the front part of the system. I rang them and recieved a new one 2 days later.

Some pictures of your clutch setup would be a huge help.

Does it simply have the cyclinder type written on it somewhere - I will need to check mine.

On the OBP ones it's cast into the sides of the master cylinder.

Thx for picture Mike, helps a lot.

Any pics of throttle link locosters???????

Is this what I need to connect Type 9 to OBP Pedal Box?
Advertised without part numbers but ''allegedly for escort/capri/cortina''

Yep I removed the damper bit of rubber. Obp used to have some good fitting instructions on there site.

I drilled a hole in the bottom tube in the chassis and welded a tube through it that the cable just presses into.

I drilled and taped to m6 a few holes in the clutch pedal. A small differance makes a big differance to the leverage and the feel.

A high tensile nut bolt and a couple of washers either side of the cable eye.

You then need a spring between the pedal and the box to stop the pedal falling forwards. Others have used a stop.

I also cut a face out of the locking nut so I could hold the cable better to the bell housing.

Photo shows mock up. Ive since fully welded the tube and used a longer capri cable.

Thanks wasa, yes got the fitting sorted.
Any ideas on how to attach throttle cable to this type of pedal?
OBP site shows a different type of pedal..

big_wasa - 2/1/12 at 05:43 PM

No mine is differant to yours. Got any better pic's ?

Not got the hydraulic clutch pedal box have you ?

wombat - 2/1/12 at 05:51 PM

Clutch connection not an issue, def cable version.

big_wasa - 2/1/12 at 06:12 PM

Like you say the clutch is easy.

The photo looks like the throttle pedal pushes forward so you need some kind of linkage to reverse the push to a pull ? I

I would be giving them a ring and asking.

wombat - 2/1/12 at 08:27 PM

Yep, lever arm pulls downwards as you depress pedal.
Will have to give them a call again, last time they directed me to help sheet.

Ta anyways.
