My Brother finished building my engine today, so i dropped it in to see how it sits....stating to look like a car now
Rescued attachment P1010001.JPG
looking good viper, what is it? 2 litre, or did you get in bored out.
O/T but i like the look of your discs, what are they?
cheers
Discs are 2.8i capri from Rally Design,
Motor is bored and decked to take 2.8i pistons, bottom end is lightened and balanced, top end is ported, big valved lumpy cam on 45's
Don't want to sound stoopid but.......
I thought the discs where supposed to go the other way around.....
Looks superb, very tidy.
How have you finished the edges of the aluminium shown in the pic, is it folded over ?

protofj - you are right the discs should be the other way round. I have grooved discs on my road car, and the grooves face the rear of the car, the instructions were very insistant that they be fitted that way.
Looking great Viper!
Thought you'd given up too so nice to see it all coming together.
What's the battery from?
Cheers,
James
Cheers James, i had given up for a while but kinda got my second wind
the battery is the same as we used in the tuscan race car..
Good to hear that your project is under way again....
I didn't really doubt that you knew what you were doing with the brake discs - It was more for my own knowledge... Cheers
I've just negotiated with the wife and got a bit of money to keep my Avon project alive....
Not a bad deal £2500 to spend on the car and it's only costing me a weeks holiday in Malta (You just have too know how to negotiate with
women) - Donnigton here I come !

wow proto i wish you would teach me some of those negotiiating skills
Wish I had that negotiating power as well.
Mrs Tigere1 has allowed me to get my new Mig provided I buy her a diamond ring
At this rate the build is going to be double
Cheers
Mark
Question:
When we quote how much the build cost shold we include the cost of all these little sweetners we give to the missus ?
I'm sure that would add a hefty lump too most budgets
Viper: You say your engine has now been rebuilt... What have you had done ? and did it cost a fortune in parts ? (Just about to start work on my
pinto ...)
Cheers
I had the block bored to take 2.8i pistons, these are shorter than pinto pistons so the block had to be decked as well, had the crank ground and
balanced the flywheel, front pulleys and clutch cover balanced, the machining was £230.00
special head gasket, rings, mains, big ends, gaskets and a competition cambelt cam to another £200
