Tiger Super Six
Greenie - 1/8/14 at 07:23 PM

Off to view a Tiger Super Six over the weekend, engined by Toyota RAW Engine, running on throttle bodies. What is everyone's opinion about these cars, never really took much notice off Tiger in the past?

other than dodgy engine mounts that need reinforcing, flakey alternator brackets on zetec cars and the odd cracked dedion, they are usually pretty good little cars.

tiger´s are not too bad...some good support from factory......

in what price range are you searching and how much should this six cost?

Looking to spend 6 to 7k, the one I am looking at is 6995 with a Toyota 4AGE Raw engine, if that makes any sense, nice looking car.

Was originally after a BEC, but cant seem to find one which fits the bill in that price range.

i had a super 6 a few years back...loved it ,theres a couple of pis in my archive , sorry still havn't worked out how to put the pics up yet

Good strong heavy chassis, so make sure you dont want to go bike engine with it one day
You still could but there is way lighter chassis out there

What ever you do good luck and enjoy it

Mark

forgot to say if you really want a BEC just wait something will turn up it all ways does

i would rather buy a MK indy or sylva striker in that range...more car for the same money..but if you like the six design...than go for it..

Check the trailing arms at the rear, known to fail at the weld between the bushing and the main tube. Uprated ones are available from the factory. Also the Super 6 doesn't have a dedion that's the R6. The Super 6 is a bit of a bloater weight wise and even uses a 1" X 1" rails but can be good fun.

when was this six built? and was the engoine conversion done properly, incl. a change of the v5c as i guess the car was originally ford-powered?

what gearbox is fitted?

40inches - 2/8/14 at 08:12 AM

Check the panels. A friend had one, and the panel fit was atrocious, huge gaps, especially the bonnet to nose cone fit.
You could see the fiberglass mat in the gelcoat

I had a six with a RAW 4AGE engine in it. It was bought by a lad in Manchester 4yrs ago and i saw it advertised last week....is it yellow?

Raw used to be an agent i think so a few were fitted with the Toyota engine from new - mine was. Cracking engine and with their Trac-Pac it revved to 8000rpm all day, everyday.

As before, check trailing arms as these split. They are heavy but strong! They are fitted with either a Koln axle - very difficult to find a LSD or a rare Cortina Atlas axle - a Capri LSD can be fitted.

The biggest problem will be size - they are very narrow in the cockpit so seats are hard to make fit and if you are 'wide' you will not get in it!

Loads of pictures of mine in my archive and there is a video on you-tube somewhere of it at Boggs after i fitted the bike carbs. 160bhp, an LSD and slicks made it loads of fun on the track.

If i was looking again i too would be buying a Striker.....not a Tiger

Probably something like this - £3.5k for the gearbox!!!

Striker

Hmmmm don't want a heavy car, which what deterred me from these in the past, it has a type 9 gearbox, ad describes it as 163 BHP.

Type in Super Six at Bogg Brothers into Ypu a Tube and it is there on the rolling road....

tul214 - 2/8/14 at 12:12 PM

If its this one, that is my car.

I fitted CBR600 FX carbs and not bodies unless they have been swapped.

It has a very rare Quaiffe ATB LSD fitted and was a very reliable car.

They are never going to be the lightest car around but it was great fun.

If you want any more info let me know.

even the striker is on the expensive side (for a striker) i would always prefer this one against any tiger...comared to the striker the toyota powered tiger should cost not more than 5k imo.

Tigerade - 2/8/14 at 08:22 PM

I have a Tiger Super 6 fitted with a Toyota 4age engine with the Raw track pack running on 45s etc, revs to 8.5k all day long.

Mine was built in 2001 with this engine.

Im also near Manchester in Westhoughton, good local Tiger owners club.

I have to ask, did you used to have a Robin Hood then a Lotus Cortina?

3750,-pound....not easy to find in that price range, even imo they arent worth much more.
