in the avon book is the brake regulator fitted wrong?
i only ask as i fitted mine at 90 degrees ie west->east
and i was told from someone on here that is was fitted wrong and that it should be facing 90 degrees as in south->north?
i only ask? as the sva man said that if i can show any evidence that the regulator fitted ok then he will brake test it?
Yep. You've fitted it wrong. It should be in-line front to back and inclined at an angle of 15-30 degrees (i.e the front higher than the back.)
It essentially consists of a ball which rolls up a ramp under heavy braking to restrict the pressure to the rear brakes, thus preventing rear lock-up
before the front.

Personally, I haven't used it as I'm using floor mounted pedals with a balance bar.

If your talking about the Sierra "G" sensing brake cut off valve throw it away it isn't suitable. If you need a pressure limmiting valve fit the Fiat Uno type and make up a simple bracket and set screw to make it adjustable.
thats the thing i do have floor mounted pedels with a balance bar! but for some reason the back locked up first thats y i put the sierra one in and it
seemed to work fine?
also the SVA man said that i have to put a hole in the bolt on the bar then put something in similar in it like a split pin?
anyone had to do that?

Isn't it just a case of adjusting the balance bar so there is further bias to the font brakes?
I've also heard that fitting different front pads (such as EBC Greenstuff) will eliminate the rears locking first.What rear brakes are you using?
drums or discs?
I'm interested because I've fitted Sierra 4x4 rear discs and floor mounted pedals with bias bar. Not ready for SVA yet, mind you.
As regard drilling and locking the bar, then you do that once you've got the bias correctly set up. I believe its a criteria of most, if not all,
SVA centres to have the bar locked.

If you have a balance bar and twin master cylinders then you don't need a bias adjuster. you just need to set up the balance on the bar.
Once this set is correctly you will need to drill a small hole through the nut and fit a roll pin. this is to make sure the bar is 'no longer
adjustable' for SVA.... Apparently they will not accept a split pin.
for the record - if you did fit the sierra bias adjuster then the SVA tester cannot test it anyway! many Tiger owners have passed by taking a copy of
a letter explaining it's operation along to the test.... A copy is available from the Tiger forum - and yes it must be mounted fore/aft.

You might also want to check what bore master cylinders have front and back. The smaller bore of the two (if you different) should feed the front
brakes.
It is indeed a requirement to ensure the balance bar cant be adjusted for SVA - some people have boxed the bar in so it cant be adjusted (at least
until it falls off afterwards anyway. Never been keen on the idea of drilling a hole in the bias bar myself to lockwire it.
i have pads at the front and drums at the back
i think i will have to use the balance bar thing again and see if it works out ill try and do saurday and ill let know how i get on!
I allso have floor mounted pedals, but without balance bar.
I've used a Wilwood brake pressure adjuster.
I've adjusted it so that the rear brakes (drums) just don't lock.
I've mounted it at the rear in a box, so that it wasn't adjustable during my SVA.
