Zetec SE in a Tiger Cat E1?
gokou - 27/5/07 at 03:44 PM

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, looks like you have a interesting mix of members here with some interesting cars.

I'm currelty building a Tiger Cat E1 and was thinking about fitting a 1.6 ZETEC SE (Sigma) engine to a Type 9 gearbox.

Does the Zetec SE require a shortened sump to fit in the Tiger, the old Pinto I had needed one.

Ultimately I want to fit bike throttle bodies onto the Zetec SE, with a megasquirt ECU.

There seems to be very information around at the moment with regards to

Zetec SE's being used in 7 style cars.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Che.

Hi gokou,

The Zetec-SE is a fab little engine. I am currently fitting one into my lcoost chassis to a type9.
The engine is not very tall, and to save ground clearance you can mount the engine slightly higher than you would normally .

I've mounted mine with about 50mm bonnet clearance, that leaves the sump poking down about the same.. If you mount the engine very close to the bonnet, the sump will have plenty of ground clearance..

Mine has bike throttle bodies (bing) and a MS ecu, but I haven't run it yet, will do as soon as the gearbox is also mounted and exhaust finished..

If you want some more info on theZetec-SE in rwd, www.shawspeed.com sell lots of tuning packages, and a rwd kit which includes a alloy bellhousing for a type9.
