Hi,
Yesterday evening I was mouting my sierra diff in the Avon chassis, and I was a little disapointed to see that the left upper mounting brackect was
not in the right place. It had to be more to the left !!
Can it be that this is due to the fact that I have one of those rare 7.5" diff ( out of a 2.0 i dohc from 1989) ??
All the other mounting point are OK, also the upper right one !!?? The only other thing I have to, besides replacing the left upper bracket, is to
gring a little bit from the casing from the diff, to get clearence in the tunnel.
Can someone tell the differance between the 7" and 7.5" diff
Thanks

Hi
I think you will find that it is the chassis is at fault if it is a tiger built chassis. You will also find the round tube that supports the steering
column bush is out of line with the upper support brackets. This is something to do with the lack of quality control at tiger sorry for the bad
news.

No, its a different size diff. Don't fret.
I ground off the bracket and welded 50x50x5 angle cleat on. This means that you have plenty off meat to weld as the angle will attach to the chassis
uprights.
I have rolling chassis now and no problems.......yet....famous last words
Steve,
Thanks,
I just did this this evening and it seems to be OK, like you discribed.
Are there other problems that you had or points of extra attention, I would appriciate some advice.
Like for the front suspension it seems to be almost inpossible to get the camber at 0 or negative.

Many Thanks,
I first install the engine and see with wath I end up, and try then the proposed solutions.
Will keep you informed
Thanks
I had the same problem, thought it was the chassis that was wrong but it wasn't. The sierra ESTATE diff is a little wider in the casting so won't fit. Take it to a scrappy and swop it over for a 'normal' one.
slightly off topic but the rear brakes are also bigger on the sierra estate.it doesnt make a difference but just something to be aware of.
