I've just noticed this dire warning in the build manual, having just put a nice line of rivets in to an ali panel at the side of the car - under
the sill where you get in and out. A couple go in to the chassis member beneath, most are just in to the ali and the GRP.
I can;t see why this is a problem - rivet holes in that chassis member should be fine and can't see why not to drill the body there - anybody
else thought the same?
thanks
You mean you actually use the Tiger build manual?? Nobody else does i dont think!!
I would guess that warning is more so you don't have rivits where you put your hands, legs etc. incase of catching yourself...
I cannot think of any reason otherwise!
Mark
too many holes weakening the chassis maybe? ei, if you got shunted the chassis may fold? don't know really. i won't be drilling my chassis at all. don't need to anyway

All of the locost build as described in the original "build your own" sports car will have rivets all the way down both side of the cockpit
to secure the aluminium panels, the R1ot also does the same but covers with some trim.
Aim sure most have been done this was and the ones with internal panels must be riveted/screw/bolted can't see any issues.
Don't mention rivets to DaveFJ - he's got aircraft-grade, double-row rivets all over his Tiger chassis!
(Only kidding Dave...)
