Age related registration
chamanne - 19/9/14 at 02:35 PM

Hello everyone.

One more time, please excuse my english, i'm french.

I have now finished a building (MEV EXOCET) and passed through the IVA.
I have provided to the tester (and into my reg file) the papers from the donor car.
A belgian LHD MX5, cause my EXOCET need to be LHD aswell.
It will be exported to france in the future

The mx5 was registered as new in august 1994.

I have now received my V5
the reg number starts with a "L", fine.
But the "date of first registration is "august 2014", like a brand new car.

I was thinking, in the past, we can re-use the date of registration from the donor car, no ?

Its a real nightmare for me as all the cars made from 2008 will be charged of a huge tax when imported into France.

Any chance to ask the DVLA to change my v5 ??

Thanks for your help.
Franck

That's the way they do it
The car is built from 1 donor, the reg is from the same year but your new car is first registered this year

Thanks.

But in this case, the car will meet the 2014 emmission rules ?

Impossible with a '94 engine !!!!!!!!!

Is there nothing in the notes to say it was built using old parts.

Does the V5c state what emission's it should be tested at? You will find this in the comments box at the bottom left.

Its stated :

previous keeper : NONE

1. rebuilt, assembled from parts some of all of which were not new
2. date first registration licence due after reg/N 01 02 2015
3 a sentence in wales language

the number is : L164 (+3 letters)

But i see nothing about the emission tests

As Snapper says - enough donor parts means you get it's age reg but as it was completed this year, it's 1st reg is this yer but can have an age related plate of the donors same year or lower

normal procedure in UK.....what i´m wondering...whatever reg. date they would have gave you-->the french authorities would never re-homologate such a car, as its a kitcar?

by the way: emission classification in Uk is done by the engine age...in rest of europe its done by the reg.-date.

1994 is pre-cat time in UK...wheras rest of europe the cat was more or less already a must.

Same thing for me, V5 came through as year of car 1979 but I figured the car in its new form was first registered as per the sate on the V5.
