10 most ridiculous fines

Macbeast - 21/8/08 at 06:58 AM

Having just received a photo-based parking ticket for stopping between 8.38 and 8.38, ie less than a minute, I didn't really want to read that

To a socialist, the sweetest words in the vocabulary are "mandatory" and "forbidden".

(not mine)

We're getting ready for our shaved heads and burlap uniforms across the pond, as well.

You are allowed 5 mins unloading time unless there are signs saying otherwise. Appeal it.

You had to stop because your steering/ brakes whatever felt odd. after stopping to check you drove off slowly to get them checked over?

Macbeast - 30/8/08 at 04:38 PM

They have a video of me getting out and going to an ATM .

But thanks

Oh and if you appeal it and the appeal fails the fine is doubled. ie no 50% if paid within 14 / 21 days.

If a fine is handed out by law you have to pay it. You can then dispute the fine after you have paid up. If you win the dispute you will likely get all costs returned. Always be careful when thinking about disputing a fine. The law is not always fair and does not allow for minor incidents. More often than not if a fine is handed out and seems unfair it will normally be backed up by some 5 word sentence in a little unknown book.

You're in London, you should expect it.
