My son is stripping down a Zetec 2L black top engine which is currently on an engine stand. Can anyone reccomend a manual that covers this engine?

How about buying a Haynes manual off eBay for a MK1/1.5 Focus? You should be able to buy a second hand one for a few pounds.

For my engine rebuild (2.0 Zetec blacktop from a 1999 Mondeo) I used my mk1 focus Haynes manual (I already had one, otherwise would have bought a Mondeo manual), and this website has a good write-up: https://www.commsp.ee.ic.ac.uk/~mrt102/other/workshop/fiesta_zetece/removal.html
