a part of my garage roof has gone awol,it,s the cement type corrogated stuff,i cant seem to find it on line anymore,any ideas,anyone want a job

Are you sure its cement and no corrugated asbestos? You won't find asbestos for sale any more.

the corragated stuff is normally asbestos which you shouldnt be using anyway as when it cracks it gives off fibres.

Double check if its corragated then replace it with MDF and Bitumen backed roofing felt. it costs about £25 a roll and my last garage 6m x 4m used 5 rolls.

if your pulling the rest of the roof down do it when its wet as it keeps the dust settled.

If its not asbestos then im happy as you can just replace the bit you need with corragated bitumen sheets...

About to fix mine when this cr@p weather subsides. I was going to leave the original corrugated stuff in place then batten over the top with cls timber, insulate then fix with metal cladding was hoping that double skinning it as it were would make it a bit warmer.
Costing all in with PVC coated sheeting from a local guy, the cls and insulation comes to about £500 which I thought wasnt too bad the garage is a long double.
Cant you claim on the insurance though if its been caused by the recent weather.

I re-did a garage roof this summer and used corrugated bitumen sheets (from Wicks) to replace the old (probably) asbestos ones. Very easy to use, though the sheets linked together and formed just the right size for my roof without any cutting required.

The asbestos cement corrugated sheets are a pain to get rid of as well. My local tip will only take a small amount and you have to fill in a load of paperwork even then.

Aren't you covered by house insurance/

If so you will get a new roof.

I have 10x20 ft of the corrugated stuff round the back of my house from when I took down the garage.

You can take it all if you want it.

I used the stuff from Wickes as well, it's been up 12 years and no problem though it has gone a nice shade of green.

I have several sheets of the (possibly asbestos) sheets here from my garage that is yet to go up

A couple were cracked so now debating whether to just do the MDF/sheet ply and bitumen thing instead

If you take all my sheets of roofing away it will simplify my decision and would be helping me out big time
Not sure they will fit into a car though...will measure sheet dims

my ever helpfull Polish neighbour (not the wa**ers the other side) has offered to make a temp repair on sat and a new ply/felt one in the summer

BTW,the garage is about 10 years old so could the roof be asbestos?

went to wickes and b n q,neither have what i want,only clear weak plastic or the green floppy stuff
looks like a ply and felt jobbie in the summer

or a fibreglass one.........

been looking at steel sheet ones with anti condensation coating,looks cheap and easy enough and i can weld on brackets for the lights before i put them up
are fiberglass ones strong enough?,it,s a bit windy on the corner hence why my roof went awol for the 2nd time.
