Running a standerd pinto on 40 delortos had them
Set up at bog brothers but never been happy with top end.
Doing some work on engine and noticed it seems lean very lean on number 3.
So I'm thinking of going bike carbs, are they any good ? What carbs are best

I ran both webers and bike carbs on my tuned pinto and the bike carbs where bay far the best! Although the power wasn't really any different the are far more refined, better on fuel and don't rattle them selfs to bits.

I'd be inclined to agree with greavesy7 - they are very easy to set up and maintain and run particularly well at lower engine speeds. my zetec will pull cleanly from tickover in top gear. MPG is very good too.

The only downside is that you need the proper kit to mount them to the car so get a decent manifold and the correct hoses and clips. These bits are probably less reliable than the way the Dellortos are attached though. I had mine respaced and used the kawasaki mounts which is better IMHO, but has the disadvantage that the carbs are running at a different angle to that which they were intended to in the bike.

You also need to run the matching fuel pump from the bike, ideally mounted under the tank.

They will need setting up, whihc you can do yourself with a wideband, or better still get a rolling road setup somewhere that knows what they are doing.

Somthin else you have to consider is will you have to cut more holes in your Bonnet at they will more then likely stick through with the filter on

I have put bike carbs on my pinto and they transformed the sound and power and much better mpg
now I have a zetec on zx9 carbs with megajolt fantastic not had it rolling roaded yet but had as much as 37mpg
both sets of carbs and manifolds I have got from Danst engineering he will supply everything fuel pump carbs manifold fluro hoses and cables and air filter and back plate

I had the Chester sports cars carb kit on my 2.0l zetec. Ran great. I used a posiflow pump (highest fliw rate you can find) but you will need the low pressure petrol king regulator as bike carbs run around 2.5 psi whereas the weber/delortas are around 4.5 iirc.
