Bushes

Some advice required please.
I am building a tiger avon from book, and am finding some areas lacking in info.
I recently made my first purchase from Tiger, Wishbones (didnt fancy makin these form book) rear hub carriers, bolt kit and bushes.
On assembly i noticed that included with the bushes were 4 steel cased ones as opposed to the rest which are standard poly. ones.
Can anyone advise me as to which wishbones these are attatched?
My own thoughts are they go on the lower rear wishb. at the hub carrier, as having inserted the blue poly. bushes they seem to rub against the carrier?
Any advice would be greatfully accepted.

when we bought ours they were all steel overs i remember it well(broke my vice) if you can iwould change them.keith

Hi

Just fitted my bushes. Im told by sue that the metal ones go in the rear upper outboard wishbones as the poly type bushes wouldnt allow the upright to go in. To be honest it has been an absolute pig. Ive broken 2 vices putting in only these four metal ones and still had to have then finished off at the garage. Ive cut down all the rubber bushes by 3mm or so (should i say hacked off a chunk) to make them fit properly and even when assembling i had to really manhandle the wishbones into place as the bushes allow no design tolerance or movement. At least with the metal bushes you could pack out with spaces. Anyway I have it together now but it was hard to finally fit the lower wishbone as it seem to be at angle in both planes so would only line up through brute force. Bit of a pig really and i definately did my research before i.e weld to rear etc etc. It seems that this a change in bushes supplied which may be better in the long run but it does seem to cause a problem. Maybe I should of brought a supersix. Engine goes in next and then my absoulte dread of the bodywork. Im contemplating phoning tiger to check to see if they are going to improve the avon bodywork soon before i actually order it.

If it's that bad do you really need the Tiger bodywork?

Certainly the wings and probably the nosecone could be bought from GTS. I'm not sure about the Avon width but I guess it's standard so you can get a scuttle from someone else too. That just leaves making a bonnet!

If i hadn't already shelled out for the shell i would make my own, still considering it anyway, i have cut my shell in half ( back panel) removed an inch and glasseds it back together again, fits the chassis now, next i will cut the n/s rch of and try to make it look a bit better.

Had to take a month off after being driven slightly mad by the Tiger book.
Anyway back with new found belief that this thing can go together, (eventually!)

Fishface, i was also told that the bushes go in the rear upper outboard wishbones but for a different reason. Was told it was to do with torque and flex when applying power!(As told by tiger workshop guy) well there in now.
I havent yet trimmed the other bushes as am still just lose building but did find that brute force was required to lever into place.

Plan to get all mechanicals sorted before even thinking about body work, but would consider purchasing elsewhere like GTS (if it fits)

Hopefully then I have got them in the right place. Interesting to hear this other reason for it.
What I would say is that even after trimming the poly bushes to get the bottom wishbones to fit in with the spacers I had to really push them in. The right wishbone set up is slightly more forward than the left hand side. From what im told this shouldnt make to much difference. Heres hoping.
