Tiger Avon??? SuperCat???
Hi all,
I'm really keen to build a kit car (no prior experience) and am interested in the Cat and the Avon. Either car would be Zetec powered.
The looks, light weight and IRS of the Avon apeal to me, but I have heard the Cat is much easier to build. What are peoples opinions on these cars.
Is the Avon really such a pain and if so what are the major problems?
Any help would be greatly appreciated... I don't want £7k of car which is too hard to build!

None of the above are easy to build. I'm building a cat e1 and it is starting to get me down. I don't know if the likes of the Luego or MK
are easy, but just looking at some of the MK kits i've seen the quality is definitely better. Im sure there was a poll done here resently check
it out to see what people think

The Avon is not difficult to build. The only real issue is with the bodywork, but I think this may have been fixed as people building now are
reporting that the bodywork fits much easier. Personnally, my bodywork was also not too bad to fit.
You want the bodywork "green", i.e. straight out of the mould and stright on the car, don't let it sit for months
unsupported, it will relax so to speak.
Where are you from? There might be some people building them in your area.

Website under construction. Help greatfully received as I don't really know what I'm doing!

You need to have a read of the post a couple of weeks ago in this forum: "tiger cat e1 - views"

I guess i am expected to reply to this...
So here goes.
Not many "kits" are going to go together like Lego but some kit manufacturers are happy to help there customers after they have bought the
kit, others don't seem to give a monkeys unless you are putting your hand in your pocket.
people on here will tell you that i am anti Tiger and i would agree.
I prefered the look of the avon but if i had my time again i would buy an MK or Luego
lord knows it would be finished by now, unlike my Avon.

i agree, the body work fitment is nothing short of terrible.especially the bonnet to chasis.there this 1" gap that is apparently for helping keep
engine cool.i havent decided what to do with it yet but it will get sorted somehow.

I agree with Northy. I found the Avon easy to build. But.....The bodywork is not too good, althjough again it was quite easy to fit. Its more about
the quality of the GRP. and the lack of symetry (Although to be honest you don't notice it with a casual look)
On my previous kit I used a cross flow engine, this kit I used a bike engine. I actually think it worked out cheeper as the engine did not require
rebuilding.I spent over £500 in parts for the Xflow
The bike engine flys and easy to brive once youve adapted your driving.
I have no regrets . I also think the Avon is better looking.
Anyway, I don't want to rubbish the Avon as I might want to sell it one day.
As regards Tiger Racing. The best discription I heard was they are a bit Prickly. Good diplomacy.
BTW I forgot to congratulate you Graham on your SVA......top man.....now dont loose your licence!
