Fuel tank again

I was looking at the avon book details for making your own fuel tank and had the following questions.
Firstly the book shows a fuel pipe running from the top down into
nearly the bottom of the tank to pick up fuel, however the tiger
supplied one from what i can see on build websites seems to have the feed pipe sticking
out the side. Any ideas why this is or how it works?
Secondly the book also says that the position of the filler pipe on
the top is subject to SVA requirements. Is there anything I should
watch here?
I would aim to have it built from stainless as i had heard that the
steel ones can rust from the inside out but does anyone know what
thickness is best to use.

Many thanks

Rob

Ali

Most people use ali for their fuel tank i believe, rather than stainless, but i bought mine so can't help with the thickness.

BTW im not building an avon so can help with those questions either

RE: Fuel supply pipe from tank

Its still baffling me why the fuel supply pipe is on the side on not on the top as per the riger build book. Any ideas if I will fail SVA if i stick it in the top?

cheers

Hope not as my MK one is at the top too.

The side would maybe be easier pipe routing- but the top means it won't leak!
