Headlights

Can anyone enLIGHTen me as to why/how the tiger 7 inch chrome headlights have to be raised. Is it just so the thread doesnt hit the top wishbone or is there a darker secret such as SVA failre. Could I not just cut the thread back?

Thanks in advance

Rob

Alsio has anyone managed to buy front indicators that comply with SVA without extending on tubing?
