Failed SVA
I had my sva test at southampton on friday, I failed on a couple of things....
1.Lack of self centering steering.
2.Exhaust emissions - need a cat converter as my engine is a march 1994 zetec.
3.Front indicators are too close together.
4.Sharp edge on front lower wishbones.
5.I need some kind of restriction on the fuel filler to stop a leaded nozzel being put in.
6.Need a warning light for the rear fog light.
not too worried apart from the steering problem, need to look at alignment and camber angles again i think, and grease it all. Anyone got any
suggestions?

I believe that inflating the font tyres to 30 plus psi is meant to help (theory being less resistance to steering thus helping it to self-centre?)
also restricting lock by fitting jubilee clips to rack under gaiters has been done by others?
(will be trying these 'tricks'out myself soon as I get an SVA date from VOSA)

Guys, you need to check the caster angle. A positive angle will increase self-centering.

If you build it as per book, how much castor is there?

self centering sorted
I set the camber to 0deg and a tiny bit of toe in. Caster isn't adjustable on the avon so did nothing with that. I also noticed that the
steering wheel boss was rubbing on the steering lock stopping it rotating freely, so filled it down a bit and sorted that out. Also spoke to the
workshop at tiger racing and deflated my tires to 10 psi which helped a lot. I think it will now pass......
So keep your fingers crossed

sounds good
I did find that on mine the front brackets were slightly larger than the bushes. I was therefore able to pack them out with repair washers at the fron
on top and rear below... probbaly made 1 or 2mm difference so added a little catsor
good luck with the re-test
