Steel Prices

Hiya all.

How much have you all been paying for your steel? (particularly anyone on the south coast)

I've just been quoted £18.20 + VAT for a 6.1 meter length of 25x25x16swg which seems amazing since last month it was less than half that.

The upshot being I'm looking for a new supplier. Any suggestions?

I paid B&Q (needed it ASAP) nearly that much for 2m - so to me, that looks a very good price!

get used to these prices, the more industry we shut down the more we are going to import, sadly we are becoming a country that has little or no industry including the fast closing corus.

And with this government's green agenda, the sooner that anything with a co2 footprint is closed, the better.

Closest metric I see on Parkersteel (only a quick look) is:
42.4 x 2.5mm (7.5 - 7.65 m) = £28.18+VAT

That's for Cold Formed Hollow Section, is that the same as CDS?

No, CDS is cold drawn seamless.
And I've got the same quote abouts, £58.80 for a 5.8m length of either 50x2mm or 45x2.5mm
Looks like I'd better do some saving, or are the prices likely to fall again?
